Notice Regarding School Tours: We will not be conducting school tours this year. It has been our experience that parents and students are primarily interested in seeing the building and facilities when requesting a tour. Because our program will be moving to a new facility next year, we will be unable show visitors that facility. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask that you investigate the resources on our school’s website to learn more about our program.
The following are the criteria we are looking for in potential students:
Students apply to our school by completing a paper application and are ultimately selected through a randomized process much like a lottery.
student resides in Wake County, NC
possesses a strong interest in one or more of the STEM fields of study
possesses a strong work ethic
wants to go to college
possesses strong academic potential (even if it’s not consistently been displayed)
wants to attend a small school
Applications help us determine if students are a good fit for a program of this rigor, but selection is ultimately made through a random process. Students must have completed an application to be eligible for selection.
Note regarding students coming from private, charter, or home schools:
In order to be considered for selection for any magnet school in WCPSS including the Wake NC State University STEM ECHS, the applying student must be pre-registered. Parents may pre-register their child at the Wake County Public School System Office of Student Assignment at 5625 Dillard Dr., Cary, NC.
